OUR BELIEFS

“Now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
– 1 Corinthians 13:13
FAITH. “Contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints!” – Jude 3

At Newport Community Church we believe in the traditional tenants of the Christian faith as expressed in the ancient Apostles’ Creed. Our sinful behavior resulted in enmity between us and our Holy Creator. Due to God’s great love and mercy, He took on human flesh and, the God-man, Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God and suffering servant took our punishment upon Himself that we might have "peace with God" (Rom 5:1; Acts 10:36). “Christ died
for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God…” (1 Pet 3:18).
This salvation is by “grace through faith, and not of ourselves, it is
the gift of God” (Eph. 2:8-9). That is, our deliverance from the
consequences of our sins and our ability to have “peace with God,” is
freely offered to all who will put their trust for deliverance in Christ and
turn from their sins. The Lord asks faith and repentance of us. The
occasion when God works (Col. 2:12) to bring about our own personal deliverance, forgiveness of sins, reconciliation, and the “new birth,” is when we prayerfully come to “the water” (Acts 10:47; 22:16; Tit 3:5; 1 Pet 3:21) and are baptized in the precious and powerful name of Jesus (Acts 2:38-39).

At that time God graciously adopts you as a child into His spiritual family
(Acts 2:41, 47; Gal 3:26-27; Eph 2:19-22; 1 Pet 1:22-23; 2:1-10) and gives you His Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) to empower you, so that daily you are being transformed and becoming more and more like Jesus (2 Cor 3:17-18; Rom 8:29; 12:1-2).
NCC is an independent and non-denominational church. We strive to let the Bible be our teacher on our journey of faith, praying for the Holy Spirit to give us guidance and understanding as we move forward on that journey (Acts 17:10-11;
2 Tim 3:14-17).
HOPE. “I am on trial because my hope is in the resurrection of the dead!” – Acts 23:6
Life is difficult and filled with many trials. The good news of God’s gospel is that, like His unique Son, Jesus the Christ, the LORD will raise His adopted children from death one day! Death will be conquered and there will be a restoration of paradise lost where pain, suffering, and death itself will be something of the past for the redeemed, family of God (Rev 21:1-8).

The Apostle Peter described this precious hope believers have with these words:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great
mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will
not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trails, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls." – 1 Peter 1:3-9
LOVE. “Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.”
– 1 Peter 4:8
What is our mission at Newport Community Church? In keeping with the two great commandments, we desire to love God more fully and to love our neighbor like we love ourselves! (cf. Matt 22:36-40; Gal 5:14). Our congregation has been striving to have a positive influence upon the Newport community for more than one-hundred years. We want to be a light for His glory and a tree bearing good fruit in the surrounding Newport region.

The Apostle Paul articulated and summarized our mission
well: "That is the way we should live, because God’s grace has come.
That grace can save everyone. It teaches us not to live against God
and not to do the bad things the world wants to do. It teaches us to
live on earth now in a wise and right way—a way that shows true
devotion to God. We should live like that while we are waiting
for the coming of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our
great hope, and he will come with glory. He gave himself for us.
He died to free us from all evil. He died to make us pure—people
who belong only to him and who always want to do good." – Titus 2:11-14
“Now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
– 1 Corinthians 13:13
A Metaphor Depicting the Gospel Story
"For God so loved the world that He Gave
His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." -- John 3:16
